BH Live generating over £66 million boost to Bournemouth

 

 

Conferences, exhibitions and events brought to the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and Bournemouth Pavilion by BH Live, are to contribute an estimated £66m of economic benefit to Bournemouth and support the equivalent of 1600 jobs in the area.

 

 

With new conferences, exhibitions and events coming into Bournemouth such as the UKSG Annual Conference and Exhibition in April and the return of high profile clients including the Trades Union Congress in September, it is estimated that over the year, 120,000 delegates and visitors will come to the town giving the business tourism economy, accommodation and support services a welcome boost.Steve Piper, BH Live Director of Venues said “2013 is a healthy year for conferences, exhibitions and events at the BIC and Bournemouth Pavilion. As a result of developing client relationships, targeted marketing and delivering successful events, we are now seeing a significant increase in medical conferences, exhibitions and association events including Help the Hospices National Conference and Exhibition, the Society of Occupational Medicine Annual Scientific Meeting who are coming to Bournemouth for the first time, the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons 60th Anniversary Congress, and the joint British Transplantation Society and Renal Association Congress In addition to this, the British Association of Barbershop Singers, Association of Flower Arrangement Societies and UK National Cheerleading competition will attract in excess of 26000 visitors for those three events alone. Last year, BH Live launched ‘ConferenceCoast – Bournemouth’, a fresh identity for Bournemouth to represent the unique selling points of the town as a premier conference and event destination.The Conference Coast identity has since been used in targeted national advertising campaigns and will be presented to the international market when the towns conference bureau, Meet Bournemouth and members, represent the town as a premier destination to event decision makers at the trade show exhibition at ExCel London, International CONFEX 2013 this week. ‘ConferenceCoast – Bournemouth’ will also be presented to conference buyers at the Meetings Show UK held at Olympia, London in JulyPiper adds, “Alongside the conference and event bookings at the Bournemouth International Centre, we are also seeing an increase in public art, exhibitions and events at the Bournemouth Pavilion with antiques, vintage and travel fairs and exhibitions creating an eclectic and varied mix of consumer events to support the thriving dance and theatre programme.
