LATE NIGHT LEVIES AND EARLY MORNING ALCOHOL RESTRICTION ORDERS

Legislation now in force (Police Reform & Social Responsibility Act 2011) introduced 2 new concepts in to the licensing system namely:-

·        The Late Night Levy

- must apply to the whole Council’s licensing area

- relates to premises authorised to sell alcohol at hours between midnight and 6 am (or hours within this period as adopted by the local Council)

- intended to finance costs of policing and other arrangements for reduction or prevention of crime and disorder

·        The Early Morning Alcohol Restriction Order

– may be applied to different types of premises or premises in an area or even  

   individual premises

-  relates to premises authorised to sell alcohol at hours between midnight and 6 am (or hours within this period as adopted by the local Council)
