Bournemouth town centre will host an outdoor Christmas ice rink this year, adding to the already established Christmas attractions, animatronics, parades and Christmas lighting to make the town centre a must-visit destination.

Set in the Lower Central Gardens, between the famous Bournemouth balloon and the Square, the real ice, open air rink will be surrounded by decorations and Christmas lights.

Get some Christmas magic into your life. Glide across cool ice in the beautiful grade II listed gardens. Make a day of it by doing your Christmas shopping in some of the high street names, independents, and grand department stores that make the town centre the region’s best retail destination. There will also be special late night sessions for those who prefer to make a night of it, skating under a starlit sky before visiting one of the town centre’s wide range of restaurants, bars and clubs.

The rink will accommodate around 100 skaters at any one time and be open from 4th December until 6th January.

The ice rink has been commissioned by the Town Centre BID as part of its campaign to promote Bournemouth town centre. It will encourage local residents and visitors to enjoy the charming mix of shops, restaurants, bars and pavement cafés which are all just a short walk through award-winning gardens from a world-class beach.

Tony Brown, Town Centre BID Chairman said: “There’s nowhere else quite like Bournemouth with its incredible mix of things to do, places to eat and of course shop. Add a fantastic Christmas ice rink and who would want to go anywhere else?”

The rink will be operated by BH Live with financial backing from the Town Centre BID, BH Live and Bournemouth Borough Council. It will be placed in the gardens with the kind permission of the Lower Central Gardens Trust Board.

Tickets will be available in advance online at the BH Live website, at the BH Live booking office, or at the rink itself, and more details will be available soon on www.makeitbournemouth.co.uk  and on this website and through facebook and twitter.
