Town Centre Bid Christmas Campaign

Town Centre BID Christmas Campaign

The Town Centre BID officially launched last month with details of how it will improve the town centre as a place to be in business, and help you increase your turnover.

If you weren't able to attend, this email gives some more detail of the Christmas campaign and tells you how you can get involved.

Christmas ice rink
The big news is that the BID plans to provide a Christmas ice rink in the lower gardens to signifincantly improve the town's Christmas offer, making Bournemouth town centre the first choice for Christmas shopping this year. Using the beautiful gardens as a backdrop, and working in partnership with both the council and BH Live this will be something completely new for the town. We're still waiting to get final confirmation of some permissions but we hope you'll see more info in the press about this soon!

The marketing campaign
For the first time ever the town centre will be the subject of a major, coordinated and professional marketing campaign this Christmas, incorporating radio, local press, TV ads, bus backs, billboards and social media.

How can you get involved?
Social media is vital these days, and you can boost your own marketing, and help the town as a whole by getting involved. If you're already active online there's loads you can do to help. If the internet isn't your thing tell us what you're doing anyway, and we may be able to help promote it. Here's how you can help:

  • Please provide details of any events you are organising from October-December 2012 in your business (including stores, pubs and clubs, restaurants - whatever it is you do). Every day the social team will be sending tweets which will include some events from the local Bournemouth area and your event could be publicised for you.
  • Please provide details and any links to Bournemouth-based offline offers that you'd be willing to have promoted on a facebook/twitter feed by the BID. (Offline only - we're all about bringing more people to the town centre.)
  • Please advise whether you'd be happy to have your promotion added to promotions from other local businesses to create a 'Make a day of it voucher' in Bournemouth.
  • Please provide your twitter @ sign and facebook URL so that the BID social team are able to 'follow', 'like' and engage with your social activity.
  • Please contact all your friends, family, colleagues and other local businesses in the area to like/share and engage with the following pages & hashtag:

@MakeItBMTH (the new town centre twitter feed - follow us!)

#makeadayofit

facebook.com/MakeItBMTH (The new town centre facebook page - like us!)

  • Please get involved in providing content, if you see something that is funny or in the spirit of Bournemouth then email us, contact us, send us web links and let us know! We may be able to go and film it, photograph it tweet or facebook about it. etc.

How does this all work?
If all that went right over your head, don't worry. The BID's creative team will be doing their social media thing to put the town centre right in the minds of thousands of local people. If you can get involved it will make a massive difference adding momentum, and it gives you the opportunity to directly promote your business as well.

Let's make this a fantastic Christmas in Bournemouth town centre!

New BID Offices!

The new Town Centre BID office is up on the third floor of Burlington House in the Burlington Arcade.

We've worked hard to keep the cost as low as possible, and as explained in the Business Plan, the office is being shared with the Coastal BID, again to keep costs down.

The Rangers will also operate from the new office and the central location will mean they have easy access to the entire BID area - from the Triangle and Poole Hill to the Lansdowne.

If you need to see the BID team don't hesitate to come by and see us.
